Shippers’ Council Roundtable: Air Freight Procurement

Synopsis:

There was a record high freight rates and greatly reduced capacity for all modes of transport causing major supply chain disruption due to the pandemic from 2020 to 2022. Freight rates began to ease back to normalcy from Oct 2022 with the lifting of travel and transportation restrictions globally but there was no peak season for airfreight in the last quarter of 2022.

The market has since shifted with the softening of spot rates with capacity flowing back into the market, albeit still below pre-pandemic levels. With Shippers seeing the opportunity to negotiate for fixed and more competitive rates. Both logistics service providers (LSP) and shippers would have better clarity of market conditions and pricing by now and thought leaders believe that now may be the best time to negotiate airfreight rates. One major question to consider though is does your procurement department or you as a Logistics Manager, know the best practices for negotiating with your providers?

Join the Shippers’ Council for a roundtable discussion that is exclusive for shippers.
